Why we love it

The winter-flowering cherry produces flushes of small pink flowers whenever the weather is mild, from November through to spring.

Its fine, twiggy branches suit a multi-stem form, and it brings life to the garden when little else is flowering.

How to use it

Plant it where you will see it from the house in winter, near a window, path or entrance.

Planting and aftercare

Plant between autumn and spring and water well through the first two summers. Prune cherries only in summer, in dry weather, to reduce the risk of disease; very little pruning is usually needed.
