Why we love it
The coral bark maple is at its most striking in winter, when its bright coral-red stems light up the garden.
In spring the new leaves emerge a fresh lime green, and in autumn they turn soft gold, so there is always something to enjoy.
How to use it
Plant it where winter sun catches the stems, against a dark evergreen backdrop, or as the centrepiece of a small courtyard.
Planting and aftercare
Plant between autumn and spring and water well through the first two summers. Shelter from cold winds and mulch each year.
