Why we love it
Field maple is one of our most dependable native trees. Its small lobed leaves give a soft, textured canopy, and in autumn the whole tree turns a clear, glowing yellow.
As a multi-stem, it takes on a relaxed, sculptural character that sits naturally in both country and contemporary gardens.
How to use it
Use it as a feature tree in naturalistic planting, at the edge of a meadow or woodland, or in exposed and urban gardens where other trees struggle. It also combines beautifully with field maple hedging for continuity.
Planting and aftercare
Plant between autumn and spring and water well through the first two summers. It is very forgiving and responds well to pruning in winter if you want to shape or lift the canopy.
