Why we love it

Few trees can match the tupelo in autumn, when its glossy leaves turn fiery shades of scarlet, orange and purple.

It is happy in damp ground, making it a valuable choice for wetter gardens and pond edges.

How to use it

Use it as a feature tree in a lawn, near water or as part of a woodland scheme where its autumn colour can glow.

Planting and aftercare

Plant between autumn and spring. Tupelo dislikes root disturbance, so plant carefully and water through the first two summers.
