About

Quality & Plant Health

Our standards

Healthy plants, chosen with care

Every plant we supply has been checked by our team, and plant health runs through everything we do, from the growers we buy from to the day your plants arrive.

Here is how we look after quality and protect plant health, for your garden and for the wider landscape.

Hand-selected

We select specimens in person, on our nursery and at our growers, looking for strong structure, healthy foliage and good roots.

Checked before dispatch

Every order is checked before it leaves us, so what arrives on site is what you expect.

Quarantine on arrival

All incoming plants are held and inspected by our team before they join our stock.

Plant passports

We are a licensed plant passport holder, with regular official inspections of our plants and paperwork.

Trained eyes

Our team is trained to recognise notifiable pests and diseases, and a designated specialist leads on plant health.

Peat-free

Form has never used peat in its own growing, and no plant we supply contains new peat, whoever grew it. Our peat-free policy →

Biosecurity

Protecting the wider landscape

Pests and diseases can travel on plants, so biosecurity matters to every nursery and every garden.

  • Official inspections. Our plants and plant passport records are inspected regularly by the government plant health inspectorate.

  • Imported plants checked twice. Plants from abroad are inspected at the supplying nursery and released only on certificate, then quarantined and checked again when they reach us.

  • Growing more of our own. We are propagating more of our own plants and working to reduce our reliance on nurseries abroad, which also reduces biosecurity risk.

On the nursery

Growing healthy plants

We prefer to prevent problems rather than treat them. Our plants are fed with seaweed-based feeds and tonics to help them grow strong and resilient, and spraying is only ever a last resort.

Careful watering, good spacing and regular checks do most of the work.

Plant Healthy

Working towards Plant Healthy certification

Plant Healthy is the UK’s plant health management standard for growers and suppliers. We are working towards certification as one of the commitments in our sustainability plan, building on the inspections, quarantine and training already in place.
