Why we love it
The Japanese hornbeam is smaller and more refined than our native hornbeam, with leaves as neatly pleated as fine fabric.
Its hanging catkins add interest all summer.
How to use it
A lovely feature tree for medium-sized gardens and woodland-style planting.
Planting and aftercare
Plant between autumn and spring and water well through the first two summers. Prune lightly in late winter to remove crossing stems and reveal the structure.
