Why we love it
Black pine is one of the toughest evergreens, standing up to exposure, salt spray and drought.
With age it develops a broad, characterful crown.
How to use it
Use for shelter, screening and evergreen structure in larger gardens, coastal and exposed sites.
Planting and aftercare
Plant between autumn and spring into free-draining soil and water well through the first two summers. Pines need very little pruning; remove any damaged branches in late winter.
