Why we love it
Italian alder grows quickly and copes with conditions that defeat many trees, from heavy clay to dry, compacted ground.
Its glossy leaves stay fresh and green well into late autumn.
How to use it
Useful for screening, shelterbelts, new developments and difficult sites where quick height is needed.
Planting and aftercare
Plant between autumn and spring, stake securely and water well through the first two summers. Prune in winter while dormant to remove crossing or damaged branches and keep a balanced crown.
