Why we love it
'Red Shine' opens its leaves in rich red-purple, giving a warm, coloured canopy through spring and early summer.
It shares all the toughness of the field maple, so it suits exposed and urban sites.
How to use it
Use as a coloured feature tree in gardens, or in rows for avenues and boundaries.
Planting and aftercare
Plant between autumn and spring, stake securely and water well through the first two summers. Prune in winter while dormant to remove crossing or damaged branches and keep a balanced crown.
