Why we love it
Few topiary plants bring colour like purple beech. The new leaves open a glossy deep purple and hold their colour all summer, and like green beech, clipped plants keep their dry coppery leaves through most of the winter.
Choosing a shape
Bold cubes and blocks suit it best. Use them for a strong, contemporary rhythm, or mix them with green beech or yew for real contrast. Purple beech looks superb against silver foliage and pale stone. Browse our topiary cubes to see what's in stock.
Planting and care
Plant between autumn and spring into well-drained soil, and water through the first summer. Clip once a year in late summer.
