Suggested lead photograph: why you should choose your tree in person (and what our demo garden is for)
No two trees are the same, and a photograph can’t tell you how one will feel in your garden. Visiting lets you see the shape, touch the bark and compare specimens, while our demo garden shows you how plants look growing together.
A tree is an emotional purchase
A beautiful tree can define a garden for decades. It will frame your view from the kitchen window, cast shade on summer afternoons and change through every season. That is a big decision, and it deserves more than a thumbnail on a screen.
Every specimen we grow is individual. Two multi-stem Parrotia persica of the same size can have completely different characters, one upright and elegant, another broad and spreading. Only by walking around them can you tell which one is right for you.

See it, touch it, feel it
Seeing a tree in person lets you look at its shape from every side and choose its best face for your view. You can touch the bark, from the papery strips of Heptacodium miconioides to the shaggy layers of Betula nigra, and appreciate the texture a photograph flattens. Standing beside it gives you a feel for its scale, so you understand how it will sit in your space. Best of all, you can compare specimens side by side, which means you go home with the one you love.
Our demo garden
Alongside the nursery, our demo garden is where we trial plant combinations and show schemes as they really grow. [to confirm] It is a chance to see how a multi-stem looks rising above grasses and perennials, how clipped topiary contrasts with loose planting, and which combinations work through the seasons.
Trialling combinations ourselves means we can recommend plants with confidence, and you can see the effect before you commit. It is planting you can walk through, not just imagine.

Can’t visit?
We understand that a visit is not always possible. Our team can send photographs and videos of individual trees so you can still choose your own specimen. If you can make the journey, though, it is well worth it.
