Contract growing: plants grown for your project

Contract growing means plants are grown specifically for your project. You agree what you need and when, and we grow and prepare the plants on our nursery, keep you updated as they grow, and deliver them in premium condition on a fixed date.

Why contract grow?

Buying from available stock works brilliantly for many gardens. Some projects, though, need more certainty: a particular plant in a particular size, hundreds of matching specimens, or everything looking its best on one specific day. Contract growing gives you that certainty.

It starts with the exact plants you need, in the sizes, shapes and quantities your design calls for. Because those plants are grown with your project in mind from the start, they arrive in premium condition. The delivery date is fixed and planned around your build or event, and you can follow the progress all the way, which gives you real peace of mind.

Watch your plants grow

One of the pleasures of contract growing is being part of the journey. We share regular updates and photographs, and you are welcome to visit the nursery to see your plants and check on their progress. Designers often bring their clients too, which builds excitement long before planting day.

Who is it for?

Private gardens and estates

New gardens often call for long runs of hedging, avenues of matching trees or large perennial schemes. Contract growing means all of these can be grown to order and ready for the planting season.

Show gardens

Show plants need to peak in one particular week, which makes timing the whole challenge. Read how we approach growing for the RHS Chelsea Flower Show.

Events and installations

Brand activations, ceremonies and fashion shows need every plant to be perfect on a fixed date, so they benefit from plants grown to a plan. See our events and installations.

How it works

The process begins with your brief. You share your plant list, quantities, quality standards and the date you need everything on site. From there we agree a growing plan and timeline together, and then grow the plants on at our nursery. Throughout the growing period you can follow the progress through regular updates, photographs and nursery visits. When the day comes, every plant is checked, prepared and delivered by our in-house team.

Start early

Time is the key ingredient. The earlier you talk to us, the more we can grow and the better the results will be, so if you have a project on the horizon, get in touch now.
