EVERGREEN SHRUBS

Evergreen shrubs are an essential part of any garden, providing the year-round backbone to plantings and helping to define the structure of any sized garden. They can be relied on to make focal points within plantings, providing much needed foliar interest through winter. This is a diverse mix of plants; some can be clipped and shaped for a formal touch, others may have large, exotic foliage. Many back up their evergreen virtues with showy displays of flowers at various points through the year, while some display attractive new growth in spring. Evergreen shrubs are perhaps best used in contrast with deciduous plants, be these other garden bushes or perennials, so that their qualities are most easily appreciated.
